These pages are dedicated to helping others to fall in love with reading.
I might best be described as a ‘RABID Reader’.
I froth at the mouth for the chance to read. But I grew up in a household where half seemed to be born-readers and the other half were more reluctant when it came to books.
Life – and school – is definitely a lot easier if you happen to be a Rabid Reader. Less so, if you seem to end belonging to the ‘RELUCTANT Reader’ camp. And yet, despite having a mother who has always considered books to be her most precious asset, it turned out that my own daughter needed a bit more help than most do, in order to fall in love with reading.
But it doesn’t matter if you have that which is referred to as ‘dyslexia’ or another form of reading impairment. I have discovered that nearly anyone can learn to grow and to develop their reading muscle. All that ANYONE needs is a little bit of help, patience, a lot of imagination and determination on the part of the other adults around them – plus of course, a quiet place to hang out in. Or earplugs. ( I swear by earplugs.)
