The children called both Grandma and their dad and adopted Grandparents – same versions for both:
“Mum’s gone mad at us for not behaving. She slammed the door on us in the shed where we’re studying really hard… and the lock’s broken. No… She’s not answering her phone – ’cause she left it in here, see? What should we do? We’re really worried now. We’ve been stuck here for 3 hours. It’s cold and we’re really really hungry.”
After their dad stopped yelling at them for ‘upsetting Mummy’ … And after Grandma was about to dial 111 or force Grandad to drive over Saddleworth Moors with an axe in order to rescue them, they yelled ‘APRIL FOOL!’ down the phone.
Thankfully, our family all share a great sense of humour. Although the kids note that they got no chocolate eggs at all this Easter…
